Charles George Marriner  born in 1922 was son of Herbert G Marriner and Laura (Nancy) Everett and older brother to Peter.

Charlie's father Herbert was a chauffeur and later a groundskeeper for sporting localites near and around Winchester. He was keen on sport himself involved in both Football and Cricket.
